In the game’s epilogue, it is revealed that both June and her unborn baby survived the crash since we see both a pregnant June standing besides Carl’s grave and, later on, June and her young son sitting on the same dock that June and Carl used to frequent.June was pregnant at the time of the crash and it is assumed that the gift she gave Carl was meant to reveal her pregnancy to him.Carl apparently died in the car crash instead of June, a revelation that runs contrary to the entire rest of the game’s narrative where the player is supposed to believe it was June who died.Now, first off, I think we can at least establish a few hard facts about the ending: Spoilers for the ending of Last Day of June will naturally follow from here on out. However, if you too struggled to make full sense of the game’s ending, I’m here to offer my theories and ideas on what exactly transpired. However, even I have to admit that Last Day of June’s ending, while offering a bittersweet sort of closure, isn’t explained to the most satisfying degree of detail, which, to be fair to Ovosonico, I reckon was kind of the point. I recently played through developer Ovosonico’s charming little adventure game Last Day of June, and as you can tell from my Indie Obscura review, I found a lot to like about the game.
